Reading through the cause and effect website was actually interesting and I have to say a little confusing at a few different parts. I had never heard of arguing causation. I found this term to be fairly interesting and realize we use this type of arguing a lot, but I never knew that was the name of the argument. The example that was used on the website made it a little easier to understand what the author was trying to justify. However the one area that caused a little confusion was when they were talking about post hoc reasoning and reverse causation. The idea of reverse causation made sense because it was simply the other version of arguing causation. However the idea of post hoc reasoning I am still a little unsure of how or what you would use it for. But overall the website was fairly helpful, partly because I am in a business law class and the example used was relatable.
I actually found this website to be a easier to understand concepts. Well based on the two assignments that we had from this website this week. But other than that, I also was not familiar with the term, causal reasoning. At first I found myself getting the term mixed up with casual reasoning which is completely different. I found myself doing that before I read into the material. Just by looking at it, the spelling looks almost the same! I agree with you that the example on this website is very useful. It really helps the readers to understand what the material is and how to apply it. It really helps us see where in the event we can use causal reasoning and the different views that people in the event may have. I also liked how the website led into the two other types of reasonings- the pos hoc and reverse causation.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with you that the website made it a little confusing to understand. It made it easier to understand some of the concepts but it was hard to understand the others. I also thought it was easier to learn reverse causation. The website made it kind of easier to understand that argument but other than that i found this website to still be a little confusing. I did also get mixed up with causal reasoning and casual reasoning because the two words are almost identical. Little did i figure out later on that they were two words which mean two totally different things.
